Politics & Current Affairs
Politics & Current Affairs Politics is the practice and theory of influencing other people on a civic or individual level. As an academic discipline, political science – the study of politics – examines the acquisition and application of power. The first academic chair devoted to politics in the United States was the chair of history and political science at Columbia University, first occupied by Prussian émigré Francis Lieber in 1857. Current affairs is typically understood to be the detailed analysis and discussion of news stories that have recently occurred or are ongoing and are typically a strong indicator of the political issues of the day. Current affairs make a huge contribution to society by exposing injustices, and is a fundamental part of public service broadcasting around the world.
